Farm work

My Place

My family owns about 600 acres east of Nashville,TN. I can't say the location of our farms but I will say that if you ask around whenever your in a town called Lebanon,TN, ask for HHH Farms ("Triple H Farms"). We have about 12 antique John Deere tractors. We have about 8 working tractors. All of our working tractors are Fords except for 1, a Massy Furguson.

  Tractors

To work on the farm we need tractors. But, how do you decide which tractors run the best? Well, you would have to answer questions like this:

-Is John Deere just a name or is it a good tractor?

-Which has more horsepower?

-Which one breaks down the least?

Well even though I'm no master mechanic I could still tell you what ya need to know (but please remember these are my opinions). John Deere used to be the best tractor money could buy. But now I think John Deere is just a name. I'm not sayin' they're bad I'm just sayin' that they are no better than the Fords or Massey Ferguson. Now  the horsepower question, I have no clue. And for the best built ones, I would have to say Ford or John Deere. Our Ford tractors many of them have well over 8500+ hours on them and have nothing major done to them if anything at all. But John Deere antiques are held together pertty good (this is how they got their reputation). But today, just like trucks, most of the tractors are very good and you probably won't go wrong choosing whatever you want. But when it comes to me, "Nothing runs like a Deere."

Why we run with Deere.

We love our Antique John Deeres! My favorite would have to be the Waterloo model. I'm not sure the year of make on our 2 models of that tractor but I believe they're in the 1920's or 1930's. The new John Deeres are good I suppose but we don't use them for work on our farm. I really don't know why but we just chose to get those old Ford tractors for farm work. They have done great. But anyways in case you like John Deere here's the website!

Our other antique...

We have one other antique tractor, a Ford, the Ford 8N. Our 1950 model looks exactly like this picture. (Once again this isn't our exact tractor but looks just like it. I can't give out any live pictures of our farms).

This is another one of my favorite "Deere"
